New Children’s Book Explores
the Gift of Wonder

Author Janice Marie Wilson shares
“Eliana, Where Do Thoughts Come From?”

(Las Vegas) When the daughter of author Janice Marie Wilson turned to in vitro fertilization to conceive a child, Janice wanted to give her first grandchild a gift that would last a lifetime. She decided to write her first children’s book, Eliana, Where Do Thoughts Come From? illustrated by Shayda Windle, naming the main character after her granddaughter Eliana.

“As a writer, I thought about it and wondered what was the most important thing that Eliana can learn. I then wrote the story of a mermaid named Eliana, who asks where her thoughts come from while the book attempts to answer that question for her,” says Janice.

Eliana means God’s Answered Prayer, and Janice creates a magical adventure that feeds a child’s curiosity while teaching self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-esteem. The character in the book demonstrates how children can be mindful, make their own decisions, and know themselves.

Published and distributed through Amazon.com, Janice has also produced a video with her reading the book, which is included with the purchase of each book. Subscribers of Apple TV can play the video so that parents and children can read along with Janice.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Share the World nonprofit charity that supplies books and works to end childhood literacy within at-risk communities. For more information, visit spreadthewordnevada.org.

Eliana, Where Do Thoughts Come From? is perfect for bedtime, classroom time, or therapy. The message is kid-friendly as a gentle and helpful tool for cultivating self-awareness in children of all ages.

Janice Marie Wilson
Full Bio

Janice Marie Wilson has written her first children’s book Eliana, Where Do Thoughts Come From? illustrated by Shayda Windle, to give her first grandchild, Eliana, a gift that would last her a lifetime. Eliana was an in vitro baby, after three failed attempts. Eliana’s name means, “God’s answered prayer.” This became Janice’s first children’s book for her first grandchild to be given to Eliana, on her first birthday.

Janice is the author of five books, including Gift From The Goddess, Athena Leadership Styles, Persephone and Polka Dot Shoes, The Goodness Experience, and now Eliana Where Do Thoughts Come From?

Janice’s insatiable appetite to express her divine soul essence through beauty, creativity, family, and fun has led her on many extraordinary adventures. It all started in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A daughter of first-generation Polish immigrants and the only girl in the family of five brothers, she found her first artistic expression in ballet’s beauty.

Her love for the ballet expanded into theatre arts, and Janice would obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and a Masters of Arts in the Performance of Literature from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Determined to share her joy of dance and performance, she toured the world, expressing her divine soul essence.

With the same enthusiasm she had for performance, she decided to pursue writing for the Chicago Tribune newspaper and was hired for a position in the advertising/marketing department. A short-lived experience, she found herself in the unlikely position of being asked to work for a Fortune 100 company as one of their first woman sales representatives. Her love for singing and dancing catapulted her on stage at all of the IBM Conferences and product announcements. She became one of the top 1% of the entire sales force.

That’s when her love for family expanded into marriage and becoming a mother of two, Kyra and Christopher. With the same zeal she expressed on stage and IBM, she poured her heart and soul into raising her family. Ice skating, tennis lessons, and corporate wife responsibilities and her own corporate career expanded her adventures to Phoenix, La Jolla, and Las Vegas.

She was doing it all so that she could have it all. But it wasn’t the doing that allowed her to create the life she loves. It was mindfulness, meditation, and belief in magic and trust in God.

Janice’s soul’s essence can be found in Jetsetter Magazine, Las Vegas Woman magazine, Chic Compass, Blog talk radio, and her YouTube Channel, Look Good, Feel Good, Do Good.

Her philanthropic pursuits are realized in her numerous charitable fundraisers. She empowers women through lectures and mentoring. As a Carlisle and Eccoci, high-end women’s retail clothing manager, she produces multiple fashion shows and events in Las Vegas. Janice has been voted the Top 100 Women of Influence.

Both of her children became professional athletes. Her daughter Kyra was a gold medallist ice skater, and her son Christopher became a professional tennis instructor. Her husband Steve is an entrepreneur in creating surgery centers and health care enterprises, and author of the book, Las Vegas Taxi Confidential. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and author, Janice is working on her next children’s book. She resides in Las Vegas when she’s not walking the beaches in Del Mar with Eliana.
